Red Foxes Host Saint Peter's For MAAC Opener

Women's Soccer Aims For First Win of 2024 vs. Peacocks

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist women's soccer opens its 2024 conference slate on Saturday evening, as the Red Foxes play host to Saint Peter's inside Tenney Stadium. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

Brandon Ross will be on the play-by-play for the contest, while Thomas Armstrong will serve as the analyst. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Despite out-shooting Navy, Marist women's soccer came up short against the Midshipmen, 2-1, after conceding two first-half goals Sunday afternoon at Tenney Stadium.
  • Graduate student Maille McDermott scored her second goal of the season in the match
  • Marist generated seven corner kicks in the match, compared to zero opportunities for Navy
MAGNIFICENT MADDY
  • Junior captain goalkeeper Maddy Catalanotti tallied two saves en route to her first shutout of the season against NJIT on Thursday, August 22
  • The shutout was the fifth of her career
  • Through four games, Catalanotti has made 12 saves and has allowed just three goals this season
  • She boasts a 0.86 GAA and a .800 save percentage
WHO ELSE BUT MAILLE
  • Graduate student Maille McDermott leads the Red Foxes with two goals on the season, both coming off headers McDermott scored her second goal of the season on a header against Navy on Sept. 1
  • She scored the first goal of her collegiate career in Marist's opener at Seton Hall on Aug, 16
  • A former Pirate, McDermott spent four years as a member of the Seton Hall women's soccer program
  • McDermott's goal came on a header in the box from a corner kick off the foot of Gabby Tirado
  • McDermott tracked the ball in the box and headed it home to give Marist a 1-0 lead in the contest.
SCOUTING SAINT PETER'S
  • Saint Peter's enters the contest at 3-2 on the season, with all three victories coming at home
  • Saint Peter's downed Delaware State, 5-0, in its last time out this past Sunday 
  • Joana Dias and Gianna Grassifulli leads the Peacocks with three goals apiece on the season, while Lula Mansilla Medina 
  • Annabelle Adams is 2-2 in net this season
  • Adams has totaled 26 saves and boasts a .743 save-percentage
HISTORY VS THE PEACOCKS
  • Saturday's contest will mark the 23rd contest between the two programs
  • Marist is 18-5 all-time against Saint Peter's
  • The Peacocks have won each of the last two meetings by a score of 1-0
  • The last time the two sides faced off, Saint Peter's came away with a 1-0 win over the Red Foxes on Sept. 12, 2014
NEXT TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes will be back in action on Saturday, Sep. 14, when Marist continues MAAC play on the road at Sacred Heart
