Marist Graduate Jason Myers Begins 10th NFL Season

Seattle Seahawks’ Kicker Played Football at Marist from 2009-12

Jason Myers, a 2013 Marist graduate, begins his 10th season in the National Football League on Sunday.

Myers is now in his sixth season as the Seattle Seahawks' placekicker. Seattle opens the 2024 season on Sunday by hosting the Denver Broncos at 4:05 p.m. Eastern.

Myers' NFL journey began in 2015, when he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a free agent that March. He won the Jaguars' kicking job that summer, and remained with the team until 2017. He kicked for the Seahawks in the 2018 preseason, and then spent that season with the New York Jets. The 2018 season proved to be a historic one, as Myers became the first Marist player to make the Pro Bowl.

In March of 2019, Myers signed a multi-year contract with the Seahawks. He was 24-for-24 on field goal attempts in the 2020 season, and earned his second Pro Bowl appearance in 2022.  He then signed his second multi-year contract with the Seahawks in the winter of 2023.

Myers played at Marist from 2009-12. He took over the Red Foxes' kicking duties as a freshman in 2009, and hit the game-winning field goal with two seconds remaining in a 23-21 triumph over Georgetown that season. He set the program record for longest field goal (49 yards) at 2011 at Davidson, and graduated as the Red Foxes' all-time leading scorer among placekickers. As a senior, Myers handled the Red Foxes' placekicking, kickoff, and punting duties. He led the Pioneer Football League in touchbacks as a sophomore, junior, and senior.  In 2014, he kicked for the Arizona Rattlers and San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League.
