POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team was defeated by Rider, 64-57, at McCann Arena on Saturday night.
The loss snapped the Red Foxes' nine-game winning streak.
- After a T.J. Weeks three-point play gave Rider its first lead, Marist countered with a 7-0 run to go up 13-7 at the 10:48 mark. The run was started by a Martin Kawa three-pointer.
- Rider countered with a 9-0 run, as Marist was held scoreless for 4:09.
- Weeks' three-pointer in the final minute of the half stakes Rider to a 29-22 lead. The seven-point advantage was the Broncs' largest in the first 20 minutes, and that remained the score at halftime.
- Two free throws by Tank Byard gave Rider a 34-24 lead at the 17:08 mark.
- Marist countered with a 14-2 run to take the lead. Elijah Lewis' three with 13:00 left put the Red Foxes back in front, 38-36.
- With 9:51 remaining, a three-point play by Tariq Ingraham gave Rider a 41-40 lead.
- Josh Pascarelli's three-pointer tied the score at 47 with 7:20 left, but Rider scored the next four points and held the lead the rest of the way.
- Rider's lead went back to 10 twice in the final minute.
- Pascarelli led Marist with 17 points, followed by Elijah Lewis with 13 and Jadin Collins-Roberts with 11.
- Jaden Daughtry led Marist with eight rebounds.
- Marist held Rider to .356 (21-for-59) shooting from the field.
- Marist shot .339 (21-for-62) from the field and .214 (6-for-28) from three-point range.
- Rider held a 44-37 edge in rebounds.
- Flash Burton led Rider with a game-high 21 points off the bench.
- Marist has held six straight opponents under 40 percent from the field.
- Pascarelli has scored in double figures in every game this season.
- Rider is 7-11 overall and 3-4 in the MAAC.
- Marist is 13-3 this season and 6-1 in the MAAC.
- Marist heads to western New York, and starts its two-game road trip at Niagara on Thursday, Jan. 23.
