Women's Hoops Goes for Fourth Straight Win In Battle With Canisius Saturday

Red Foxes Aim for Second Straight MAAC Weekend Sweep

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Marist women's basketball looks to extend its win streak to four games, as the Red Foxes play host to Canisius on Saturday inside McCann Arena at 2 PM on ESPN+.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Marist women's basketball saw four players reach double-figures in scoring as the Red Foxes cruised past MAAC foe Niagara at home, 74-52, Jan. 23 inside McCann Arena.
  • 10 of the 12 Red Foxes that appeared in the contest scored in the game.
  • Danielle Williamsen led the way with 13 points.
  • Ciara Croker tallied 11 points and eight rebounds.
  • Morgan Lee totaled 13 points and 14 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season.

MAGNIFICENT MALEA
  • A native of Sacramento, Egan transferred into Marist for her sophomore season after spending a season at Montana State
  • Prior to Egan joining Montana State, she garnered Class B All-State honors after averaging almost 30 points per game at Colstrip High School as a senior
  • Egan scored a career-high eight points in the win over Niagara on Jan. 23.
  • She posted a season-best 44 points against Baker and recorded 40 points against Lodge Grass during her senior campaign.
  • Egan recorded over 1,000 points with the Fillies.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GRIFFINS
  • Canisius is led by Tiffany Swoffard who has totaled four wins  so far in her first season as the head coach of the program.
  • The Golden Griffins are 4-14 on the season and 3-5 in the MAAC entering Saturday's contest against the Red Foxes.
  • Canisius has split its results in its last four games.
  • The Golden Griffins picked up a road victory against Sacred Heart, 67-53, in their last time out on Thursday, Jan. 23.
  • Canisius averages 55.3 points per game, while shooting 40.1% from the floor and 26.8% from deep.
  • Jaela Johnson leads Canisius in scoring with 10.1 points per game.
HISTORY VS CANISIUS
  • Saturday's contest against Canisius will be Marist's 63rd ever matchup with the Golden Griffins.
