POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team defeated Quinnipiac by a score of 69-62 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game on Sunday at McCann Arena.
The victory extended Marist's winning streak to seven and moved the Red Foxes to 4-0 in MAAC play while knocking the Bobcats from the ranks of the unbeaten.
- Quinnipiac jumped out to an 8-3 lead at the 15:52 mark.
- The Bobcats' lead remained between one and five for a span of 8:51, but Elijah Lewis' jumper at the 7:29 mark gave Marist its first lead at 13-12.
- Lewis' shot was part of a 13-0 Marist run that saw Quinnipiac go scoreless for 9:42. Jadin Collins-Roberts' layup at the 4:10 mark gave the Red Foxes a 20-12 lead.
- Lewis drained three-pointers on consecutive possessions, which staked Marist to a 30-19 lead in the final minute. The Red Foxes took this 11-point lead to the locker room.
- Marist scored the first nine points of the second half to run its lead to 20, as Quinnipiac was held scoreless for the first 5:13. Josh Pascarelli had a three-pointer and jumper on consecutive possessions to culminate this run.
- Quinnipiac outscored Marist 13-5 over a span of 3:23 to cut its deficit to eight with 8:15 remaining.
- A 6-0 Marist run, which included four more points from Pascarelli, extended Marist's lead to 14 at the 3:43 mark.
- A 10-2 Quinnipiac run brought the Bobcats to within five with 1:03 remaining. Although they got within five again in the final minute, they never came closer.
- Lewis drained two free throws with 14 seconds left to seal the victory.
- Pascarelli led Marist in both points (20) and rebounds (eight). He had 15 points and five rebounds in the second half.
- Lewis had 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists. He shot 9-for-10 from the line.
- Collins-Roberts tallied 10 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a blocked shot.
- Jackson Price had 10 points and seven rebounds.
- Jaden Daughtry had team highs of three blocked shots and three steals, and he also collected seven rebounds.
- Marist held Quinnipiac to .373 shooting from the field.
- Amarri Monroe led Quinnipiac with 15 points, but he was held to 6-for-17 shooting from the field.
- Marist's seven-game winning streak is its longest since the 2006-07 season.
- Marist is 4-0 in the MAAC for the first time since the 2000-01 season, and second time in program history.
- Marist's 11-2 record is its best after 13 games since the 1995-96 season.
- This is Marist's eighth straight win at home since dating back to last season. It's the Red Foxes' longest home winning streak since taking 13 straight from Feb. 2007 through Jan. 2008.
- Pascarelli had his fifth 20-point game of the season, and the ninth of his career.
- This is the seventh time Marist has held an opponent under 40 percent from the field. The Red Foxes have won all seven.
- Marist is 7-0 when holding the opposition under 70 points.
- Of Marist's 13 games, 10 have been decided by seven points or less. The Red Foxes are 9-1 in these games.
- Quinnipiac is 7-8 this season and 3-1 in conference play.
