Marist Student-Athletes Shine in Fall 2024 Semester

All 23 Division I Programs Turn in Semester & Cumulative GPAs Over 3.0

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist student-athletes turned in another outstanding performance in the classroom during the Fall 2024 semester.
 
All 23 of Marist's Division I programs posted a grade-point average of at least 3.0 for the semester itself, and all currently have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. It is the first time this feat has been accomplished in consecutive semesters. For the department as a whole, it is the second highest semester (3.410) and cumulative (3.409) GPA on record.
 
The top team GPA of the semester was achieved by volleyball (3.744). It is the ninth time on record that volleyball has led the department. The top men's GPA went to tennis (3.587).
 
Eight programs recorded GPAs that ranked in their top five all-time: women's tennis (second, 3.723), softball (second, 3.662), men's lacrosse (second, 3.321), football (3.305, second), men's basketball (second, 3.146), men's track (third, 3.474), men's soccer (third, 3.337), and women's swimming & diving (fifth, 3.547).

  • A total of 47 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.
  • Of Marist's 653 student-athletes, 339 (52%) recorded at least a 3.5, and 542 (83%) were above 3.0.
  • The following student-athletes were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District:
    • Women's Soccer: Emily Dovico, Bella Lazzaro, Olivia Lindsay, Julia Loncar, Keegan Mayer.
    • Men's Soccer: Nicholas Sanchez, Arion Ulaj.
    • Volleyball: Sara Dasic, Kaitlyn Owens, Alyssa White, Jamison White.
    • Football: Sean Coverdale, Brandon Furey, David LaFears, Chris Leonardo, Gannon McCorkle, Kade Werner.
  • Men's cross country tied for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference lead with 15 student-athletes being named to the All-Academic Team.
  • Football's Chris Leonardo was named to the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) Academic All-Star Team.
  • Football's Gannon McCorkle was a national semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy, known as the "Academic Heisman."
  • The following student-athletes were named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Student-Athlete of the Week: Alyssa White (volleyball), Jackson Price (men's basketball), Morgan Lee (women's basketball).
