BUFFALO, NY -  Marist women's volleyball team aims to get back in the win column this weekend on the road against Canisius and Niagara. The matchups are set for Friday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. 

LAST TIME OUT

• The Red Foxes split their weekend matches against Merrimack and Quinnipiac at home 
• Marist defeated Merrimack 3-1, and lost to Quinnipiac 3-0
• In their win, junior Sara Dasic and freshman Ava Lanzetta led the team with 14 kills each
• Graduate student Claire Lewis led with 29 assists, and junior Cecilia Potter-Pessoa led the team with 21 digs

 

SCOUTING CANISIUS

• Canisius sits at 8-11 overall and fourth in the MAAC at 6-3 
• The Golden Griffins have won four straight and defeated Rider and St. Peters in five and three sets this past weekend
• Senior Bella Mosquera leads the team with 204 kills and senior Ella Bourque leads with 705 assists 
• Brenda Reynaga leads with 325 digs

 

HISTORY AGAINST CANISIUS

• Marist is 21-26 against Canisius all-time
• This will be the 48th meeting between the two programs
• Marist has dropped their last three against Canisius, with the most recent meeting on Nov. 16, 2024 in Poughkeepsie in three sets

SCOUTING NIAGARA

• Niagara sits at 7-10 overall and third in the MAAC at 7-2
• The Purple Eagles split their weekend matches against Saint Peter's and Rider, defeating Saint Peter's in four sets and losing to Rider in four sets
• Senior Sydney Wilkes leads the team with 168 kills and senior Kylie Blessing leads with 355 assists
• Sophomore Mia Schaefer leads with 352 digs

 

HISTORY AGAINST NIAGARA

• Marist is 23-29 against Niagara all-time
• This will be the 53rd meeting between the two programs 
• Marist dropped both matches against Niagara last season, with the most recent meeting on Nov. 17, 2024 in Poughkeepsie in four sets

NEXT  TIME OUT

• The Red Foxes will travel upstate to face Siena on Tuesday, Oct. 28 
• Marist will return home next week on Friday, Oct. 31 and Saturday, Nov. 1 to face Sacred Heart and Fairfield
