BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Marist women's soccer team saw its season come to an end on Sunday afternoon, falling 1–0 to Canisius in the MAAC Quarterfinals at the Demske Sports Complex.
Canisius struck early, scoring in the 21st minute when Azaria Fagan converted off assists from Skylar Cornell and Meghan Joerger. The Red Foxes pressed for an equalizer throughout the match but couldn't break through a tough Golden Griffin defense.
Marist finished with seven shots, including three on goal, while limiting Canisius to nine attempts. Goalkeeper
Maddy Catalanotti made three saves to keep the Red Foxes within striking distance.
Despite a strong push in the second half — highlighted by attempts from
Margaret Johnson,
Julia Oliveira, and
Gabby Tirado — Marist couldn't find the back of the net as Canisius held on for the narrow victory.
The Red Foxes close their season with a 6–8–5 overall record and a 5–2–5 mark in MAAC play.
