JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Marist men's soccer team closed the regular season with a dominant 3-0 victory over Saint Peter's on Wednesday afternoon at Jaroschak Field.
The Red Foxes struck early when junior midfielder Kyle Evans converted in the 13th minute off a feed from freshman winger Adriano Iannello.
Marist doubled its lead in the 49th minute as sophomore forward Chris Verheul finished a setup from Evans for his fourth goal of the season.
Sophomore midfielder Miles Douglas capped the scoring in the 69th minute, heading home a free kick from Skyler Cunha for his first career goal.
Marist controlled the match from start to finish, outshooting the Peacocks 28-7 and holding a 10-4 edge in corner kicks. Graduate goalkeeper Jamie Lowell made four saves to earn the clean sheet, while Saint Peter's keeper Oliver Alaviuhkola stopped nine shots.
The Red Foxes finish the regular season 8-4-4 overall and 4-4-2 in MAAC play.
