Men’s Basketball Cruises Past Stony Brook in Non-Conference Finale

Red Foxes Set Season Bests for Points Allowed, Field Goal Percentage Defense, Fewest Turnovers

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University men's basketball team earned a 70-51 home victory over Stony Borok in its non-conference finale at McCann Arena on Sunday afternoon.
 
Summary
  • Stony Brook jumped out to an early 5-2 lead, but Marist countered with a 12-0 run with the final four points of it scored by Parby Kabamba.
  • The Red Foxes led by as much as 17 in the first half. Although Stony Brook held Marist scoreless for 4:06 late in the half, the Red Foxes still led and led 35-23 after 20 minutes.
  • Stony Brook scored the first five points of the second half to cut its deficit to seven, which induced a Marist timeout at the 18:48 mark. Out of the timeout, Elijah Lewis scored Marist's next seven points, and the Red Foxes went on a 15-3 run.
  • Trace Salton's three-pointer lifted Marist's lead to 22, its largest of the game, at the 11:09 mark.
  • Marist led by at least 15 for the final 15:45.

  • Daughtry collected his 500th career rebound, and he now has 80 blocked shots in his career. The blocked shots total ranks ninth in program history.
