POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist women's and men's tennis teams will look to continue their strong runs this upcoming weekend, with the women facing off against Bucknell on Friday and both teams taking on Lafayette on Sunday.
 

Last Time Out

Womens

• The women's team swept the Merrimack Warriors 4-0 on Saturday, Feb 8, winning all three doubles matches and all five singles matches; the sixth singles match did not start
• Junior Cloe Clements Sorde was named MAAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week after winning in #1 doubles match 6-1 with freshman Lola Ungerman, and winning in #2 singles match 6-0, 7{0}-6{0}
• Freshman Viktoria Lorentzon won her singles match 6-4, 6-0 in #3 singles

Mens

• The men's team defeated Merrimack 6-1 on Friday, Feb 7, winning two out of three doubles matches, and going 5-1 in the singles.
• Freshman Gregor Heinemann/ Senior Jose Catala dominated in a 6-0 win in #2 doubles match.
• Gregor Heinemann came out on top in a close singles match  6-3, 3-6, 7-6(0) in #2 singles.
• Freshman Anirudh Nallaparaju won 6-4, 6-0 in two sets in #6 singles.

Friday, Feb 14 vs. Bucknell

• Bucnknell is 1-4 on the season and are currently on a four game losing streak
• Last week, Bucknell was defeated by Washington and Lee 5-2 last Friday, Feb 7, and their next match vs Towson was postponed on Saturday. Feb 8
• Marist is 2-7 all time against Bucknell and have dropped the last four matches dating back to 2018; Bucknell won 7-0 in their last meeting on March 5, 2023
• After Marist, The Bisons travel to face off against Slippery Rock and Mercyhurst on Feb 22 and 23

Sunday, Feb 16  vs. Lafayette

• Lafayette is 1-1 so far this spring and were defeated by NJIT 7-0 on Saturday, Feb 1
• Their match was canceled against Coppin State on Feb 8
• Marist defeated Lafayette 4-3  in their last match on Feb 3, 2024 and are 7-1 overall against the Leopards overall
• The Leopards take on Vassar College on Saturday, Feb 15 before their match against Marist, and  next week are on the road playing Duquesne and Saint Francis on Feb 22 and 23

Mens
Sunday, Feb 16 vs. Lafayette

• Lafayette sits at 1-2 and dropped their last match against NJIT 7-0 on Saturday, Feb 1
• Their match against Coppin State was canceled last Saturday, Feb 8
• All time, the men's tennis team is 4-0 against Lafayette and won their previous match against the Leopards 4-3 on Feb 3, 2024
• Following Marist, Lafayette will take on Duquesne and Saint Francis on the road Feb 22 and 23
