WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina- The Marist baseball team dropped a late-night game against LIU, Saturday night into Sunday morning. The Red Foxes scored six runs on seven hits but fell to LIU 11-6.
The Red Foxes moved to 0-3 on the year heading into the final game of opening weekend.
- Will Taylor pitched two scoreless innings for the Red Foxes to begin the game. Taylor allowed one hit and struck out one batter through the first two innings.
- In the top-half of the third inning, Jason Claiborn led off with a walk for the Red Foxes.
- Claiborn later advanced to second on a ground out, which put a runner in scoring position for the Red Foxes.
- Later in the inning with two outs, Lewis Rodriguez recorded the Red Foxes first run of the evening on a single.
- The Red Foxes led 1-0 after the top-half of the first inning.
- In the bottom-half of the third inning, LIU evened the game 1-1.
- Will Taylor pitched a scoreless fourth inning for the Red Foxes, which kept the game tied at 1-1.
- In the bottom-half of the fifth inning, LIU scored two runs on a double, which gave the Sharks the lead 3-1 over the Red Foxes.
- LIU would add another run on an RBI single, which extended their lead to 4-1.
- LIU continued to add a run on an error in the inning, making the game 5-1.
- In the top-half of the sixth inning, Noel River led off the inning with a walk. After the walk, Rivera advanced to third on an error after a fielder's choice.
- Rivera would score on a fielder's choice, which cut into the LIU lead 5-2.
- Later in the inning, Kyle Pollack doubled down left field, which put runners at second and third.
- Aydan McNelly would drive both runs home with a two-RBI single, which placed the Red Foxes down 5-4 in the top-half of the sixth.
- Bobby LeFevre pitched a scoreless sixth, which kept the LIU lead to one run.
- In the top-half of the seventh, AJ Brotz led off the inning with a single.
- Brotz advance to second on a wild pitch, which put Red Foxes in scoring position.

- Lewis Rodriguez evened the game at 5-5 with a sacrifice fly.
- After Rodriguez, Zach Donahue hit an RBI double, which scored Rivera and gave the Red Foxes a 6-5 lead.
- LIU regained the lead in the bottom of the seventh with three runs.
- The Red Foxes trailed 8-6 after seven innings of play.
- LIU would add three more runs to their lead in the bottom-half of the eight, extending their lead over the Red Foxes 11-6. The Red Foxes would have bases-loaded to attempt the comeback, but fell 11-6.
- Zach Donahue and Aydan McNelly led the Red Foxes with two RBIs apiece in the game.
- The Red Foxes recorded seven hits in the game as a team.
