POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Marist women's basketball aims to close February on a three-game win streak, as the Red Foxes play host to MAAC newcomers Sacred Heart, Thursday at 7 PM inside McCann Arena on ESPN+.
- Danielle Williamsen tallied 20 points to lead Marist women's basketball past Niagara, 67-56, on Saturday afternoon inside the Gallagher Center.
- Williamsen scored 11 of her 20 in the first half.
- Malea Egan scored a career-high 10 points in the win.
- Morgan Lee tallied eight points, 10 rebounds, and five blocks in the victory.
- Danielle Williamsen was named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Feb. 24.
- In a 2-0 weekend for the Red Foxes, Williamsen averaged 16.5 points on 54.2% shooting from the field, adding 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, aiding Marist to its first sweep of the Western New York sweep since the 2019-20 season.
- She opened the week with 13 points, five rebounds, an assist, and a steal in the road victory over Canisius on Feb. 20.
- She followed that performance with 20 points, three assists, two steals, and just one turnover in the road win over Niagara on Feb. 22.
- Sacred Heart is led by Jessica Mannetti who has totaled 177 wins in 12 seasons as the head coach of the program.
- The Pioneers are 7-18 on the season and 3-13 in the MAAC entering Thursday's contest against the Red Foxes.
- SHU has lost six of its last seven games entering Thursday.
- The Pioneers came up short at home against Saint Peter's, 54-44, this past Saturday.
- SHU averages 58.4 points per game, while shooting 37.0% from the floor and 23.4% from deep.
- Ny'Ceara Pryor leads the Pioneers in scoring (19.0 ppg), rebounding (6.1 rpg), assists (3.9 apg), and steals (3.8 spg).
- Thursday's contest against Sacred Heart will be the first-ever matchup with the Pioneers.
- Marist will be back in action on Saturday, March 1, when the Red Foxes travel to take on Saint Peter's inside Run Baby Run Arena at 2 PM on ESPN+.
