POUGHKEEPSIE, NY. – Lexie Tarul scored a career-high 23 points to lead Marist women's basketball past Sacred Heart, 68-61, Thursday evening inside McCann Arena.
Morgan Lee posted 15 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double, while
Danielle Williamsen contributed 13 points of her own.
With the win, Marist improved to 15-12 on the season and 10-7 in the MAAC, while Sacred Heart fell to 7-19 on the campaign and 3-14 in conference play.

After taking a 9-5 lead into the first media timeout of the contest, the Red Foxes came out of the break firing off to a 9-2 run behind two three-pointers from
Lexie Tarul to extend the lead to 18-7.
Marist kept it rolling, taking a 23-15 advantage into the second quarter.

The Pioneers came out firing to open the frame, going on a 12-6 run to trim the Red Fox lead to 29-27 with 6:17 left in the first half. However, the Red Foxes responded with a 10-2 run of their own to extend the lead to 39-29, before taking a 39-31 lead into halftime.

After Sacred Heart trimmed the Marist lead down to single digits, the Red Foxes responded with an 11-4 run highlighted by back-to-back three-pointers from Williamsen to force a SHU timeout with Marist leading 57-42.
The Red Foxes kept their foot on the gas and carried a 59-47 lead into the fourth.

After the Red Foxes pushed their lead to 15 to open the quarter, Sacred Heart responded with a 10-0 run to cut the Marist lead to 62-57. The Pioneers cut the deficit to as close as five points, but was never able to get over the hump, as the Red Foxes prevailed with a 68-61 home victory.
