Marist Joins CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll for First Time

16-3 Red Foxes Check in at #25

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – For the first time in program history, the Marist University men's basketball team has earned a spot in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll.

With a 16-3 overall record and 9-1 mark in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play, the Red Foxes are ranked 25th in the poll. Marist's overall record is tied for its best after 19 games in its 44 years as a Division I program.

The 9-1 record is the Red Foxes' best after 10 conference games in the program's 28 years in the MAAC, and it is also tied for Marist's best conference record after 10 games in its Division I history.

Among the Red Foxes' accomplishments to this point:

  • Marist's nine-game winning streak from Dec. 6 through Jan. 16 was its longest since 2006-07.
  • Marist's seven wins in January were its most since 2008, when the Red Foxes also won seven.
  • Marist swept the Niagara-Canisius trip for the third time in its history this season, having previously accomplished the feat in 2014-15 and 2022-23.
  • Marist finished non-conference play with a 7-2 record. This is the Red Foxes' highest win total in non-conference play since the 2006-07 season (8).
  • Marist went 5-0 in December, its first perfect December in its Division I history.
  • Marist has currently won three straight games, and 12 of its last 13.
  • Marist played in front of a sellout crowd at McCann Arena on Jan. 31. It was the Red Foxes' first sellout for a men's basketball home game in 17 years.

Marist will return to action on Thursday, when the Red Foxes play at Fairfield. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. This will be the second of back-to-back games the Red Foxes will have on ESPNU, following Marist's 72-67 home triumph over Siena on Friday.
