No. 5 Red Foxes Set for MAAC Quarterfinals Matchup With No. 4 Mount St. Mary's

Women's Hoops Takes On The Mount With Shot at MAAC Semifinals On The Line

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – No. 5 Marist women's basketball aims to secure a spot in the MAAC  Semifinals, as the Red Foxes take on No. 4 Mount St. Mary's Thursday, March 13. Tip-off is set for noon on ESPN+ inside Boardwalk Hall.

HOW WE GOT HERE
  • Marist went 16-14 on the season and 11-9 in MAAC play to earn the No. 5 seed for the MAAC Championships.
  • With the fifth seed, Marist clinched a bye into the MAAC Quarterfinals.
  • Marist improved its win total by 10 from a season ago, one of the largest turnarounds for a program this season.
  • A win over Mount St. Mary's would give Marist its first postseason victory since the 2020-21 season.
  • A win would put the Red Foxes back in the MAAC Semifinals for the first time since the 2020-21 season.
ALL MAAC RED FOXES
  • Juniors Morgan Lee and Lexie Tarul, as well as freshman Danielle Williamsen of the Marist women's basketball team were all honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Monday morning.
  • Lee averaged 12.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.4 blocks per game, and 0.8 steals per game on the season en route to earning Second Team All-MAAC honors.
  • Tarul averaged a career-best 11.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game en route to earning Third Team All-MAAC status.
  • Williamsen found herself making an instant impact for the Red Foxes as a rookie, averaging 9.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game en route to earning MAAC All-Rookie honors.
SCOUTING THE MOUNT
  • Mount St. Mary's is led by Antoine White who has totaled 54 wins in four seasons as the head coach of the program.
  • The Mount are 14-15 on the season and 12-8 in the MAAC, earning the No. 4 seed for the MAAC Championships.
  • Mount St. Mary's has lost three of its last four games entering Thursday's contest.
  • Mount St. Mary's averages 64.4 points per game, while shooting 39.0% from the floor and 35.0% from deep.
  • Jo Raflo leads the Mount in scoring (14.9 ppg) and rebounding (6.1 rpg).
HISTORY VS MOUNT ST. MARY'S
  • Thursday's contest against Mount St. Mary's will be the 25th ever matchup with the Mountaineers.
  • Mount St. Mary's is 18-6 all-time against Marist.
  • The last time the two sides faced off, Mount St. Mary's came away with a 61-50 victory over Marist in Poughkeepsie on March 8.
  • The last time the two sides faced off in the playoffs, the Mount downed Marist in the opening round of the 2024 MAAC Championships, 60-47, on March 12, 2024.
