NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Marist women's basketball looks to stay hot and extend its win streak to five, as the Red Foxes take on MAAC foe Merrimack on the road Thursday. Tip-off on Hammel Court is set for at 7 PM on ESPN+.
- Lexie Tarul scored 20 points and the game-winning basket to lead Marist women's basketball past Saint Peter's, 63-61, on March 1 inside Run Baby Run Arena to clinch a bye in the MAAC Championships held in Atlantic City later in the month.
- Danielle Williamsen added 12 points.
- Morgan Lee totaled nine points and 10 rebounds.
- Malea Egan and Julia Corsentino added nine points apiece from off the bench.
- Freshman Danielle Williamsen has been a mainstay in the Red Fox back court this season as a freshman.
- Williamsen is averaging 8.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
- Already an above-average free-throw shooter, she is shooting 47-for-58 (81.0%) from the line so far this season.
- Williamsen has scored 12 or more points in four straight games.
- Over her last four games, Williamsen is averaging 14.5 points and 1.8 steals per game, while shooting 48.8% from the floor and 43.8% from deep.
- Williamsen was named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Feb. 24.
- In a 2-0 weekend for the Red Foxes, Williamsen averaged 16.5 points on 54.2% shooting from the field, adding 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, aiding Marist to its first sweep of the Western New York sweep since the 2019-20 season.
- She opened the week with 13 points, five rebounds, an assist, and a steal in the road victory over Canisius on Feb. 20.
- She followed that performance with 20 points, three assists, two steals, and just one turnover in the road win over Niagara on Feb. 22.
- Williamsen tallied a career-high five steals against Merrimack on Feb. 15.
- She recorded 12 points and five rebounds in the victory over Iona on Feb. 8.
- Merrimack is led by Kelly Morrone who has totaled 53 wins in five seasons as the head coach of the program.
- The Warriors are 12-16 on the season and 8-11 in the MAAC entering Thursday's contest against the Red Foxes.
- Merrimack has lost each of its last two games entering Thursday.
- The Warriors came up on the road against Quinnipiac, 76-44, this past Saturday.
- Merrimack averages 59.3 points per game, while shooting 38.1% from the floor and 28.3% from deep.
- Thalia Shepard leads Merrimack in scoring at 12.8 points per game.
- Thursday's contest against Merrimack will be the second ever matchup with the Warriors.
- Merrimack is 1-0 all-time against Marist.
- The last time the two sides faced off, Merrimack came away with a 55-48 victory over Marist in Poughkeepsie.
