NORTH ANDOVER, MA. – Danielle Williamsen scored a team-high 15 points, but it wasn't enough, as Marist women's basketball came up short on the road at Merrimack, 55-47, Thursday evening inside Hammel Court.
Julia Corsentino contributed 11 points off the bench, while
Morgan Lee chipped in 12 points of her own.
With the loss, Marist fell to 16-13 on the season and 11-8 in the MAAC, while Merrimack improved to 13-16 on the campaign and 9-11 in conference play.

It was a slow start for both sides as Merrimack carried a 4-2 lead into the media timeout with 2:44 to go in the opening frame. The Warriors held the Red Foxes to four points in the quarter, as Merrimack carried a 7-4 lead into the second.

After falling behind 10-6, the Red Foxes responded with a 6-0 run to take a 12-10 lead into the media timeout midway through the second quarter.
Out of the timeout, the Marist run ultimately reached 17-5, pushing the lead to 23-15 before Merrimack cut its deficit to 23-18 into the half.
The Warriors used the opening five minutes of the half to outscore Marist 11-7, cutting their deficit to 30-29 midway through the frame. After Marist pushed its lead to 35-29, the Warriors responded with a 9-2 run to close the quarter, giving Merrimack a 39-37 lead into the fourth.

Merrimack used the opening 5:30 of the fourth to extend its lead to 45-39 into the media timeout with 4:15 left in regulation. Marist was able to cut the deficit to as close as four points, but could not get over the hump, eventually falling, 55-47.
