POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Head Coach
John Dunne of the Marist men's basketball program has signed a multiyear contract extension, it was announced Thursday by Director of Athletics Tim Murray.

Per Marist University policy, terms of the extension will not be disclosed.
"I am grateful to have my contract extended," Dunne said. "My wife, Marlene, and I are excited to continue our lives here in the Hudson Valley. I appreciate the support and confidence from Director of Athletics Tim Murray, Executive Vice President Geoffrey Brackett, and President Kevin Weinman. I look forward to working toward bringing sustainable success here at Marist and ultimately a championship to our passionate and loyal fan base."
Dunne completed his seventh season as the Red Foxes' head coach in the 2024-25 season. He previously earned a contract extension following the 2021-22 season.

Dunne's tenure has been highlighted by significant growth on the floor and solid achievements in the classroom and community:

- Marist achieved its fifth 20-win season in program history in 2024-25. The Red Foxes' 20 wins were the program's highest total in 18 years.
- Marist's nine-game winning streak this past season was the program's longest in 18 years.
- Marist won its first six Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference games this past season. It was the program's first 6-0 MAAC start in its 28 years in the conference.
- Josh Pascarelli was selected First Team All-MAAC this season. He was the first Red Fox to be named First Team All-MAAC since Jared Jordan in 2007.
- Marist has won 38 games the last two seasons, its highest win total in back-to-back seasons since the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons.
- In 2023, Marist made the MAAC championship game for the first time in program history.
- Coached Patrick Gardner in the 2022-23 season. Gardner ranked in the MAAC top 10 in five statistical categories. He has played in the NBA G-League the last two seasons for affiliates of the Brooklyn Nets and Orlando Magic.
- At Marist, Dunne has coached six All-MAAC honorees, six MAAC All-Rookie Team selections, two MAAC major award winners, and has had 24 student-athletes named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
- Jordan Jones was one of 10 men's basketball players nationwide to be named to the NABC Community Assist Team for his community work in September 2021.
- Dunne has been named a finalist for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award three times: 2020-21, 2023-24, and 2024-25.

Dunne was hired as the 12
th head coach in program history on April 3, 2018.
