POUGHKEEPSIE, New York- The Marist baseball team played its series finale against Rider, Sunday afternoon. The Red Foxes fell in a 12-inning thriller against the Broncs 9-5.
The Red Foxes moved to 16-22 overall on the 2025 season and 9-10 in MAAC play.
- In the top-half of the first, Rider took an early lead with one run on two hits.
- The Red Foxes trailed 1-0 after two innings of play.
- Rider added to its lead in the top-half of the fourth inning with a run on two hits.
- The Red Foxes trailed 2-0 after four innings of play.
- After a scoreless fifth and sixth innings from the Red Foxes and the Broncs, Rider extended their lead with three runs in the top-half of the seventh.
- The Red Foxes trailed 5-0 after seven innings of play.
- The Red Foxes scored their first run of the game in the bottom half of the eighth, which cut into the Rider lead 5-1.
- In the bottom-half of the ninth inning, the Red Foxes equalized the game with four runs on three hits, completing the comeback.
- Esposito was hit by a pitch which brought home Luke Monico and cut into the Rider lead 5-2.
- Noel Rivera followed with a two-run single, which made the deficit one run at 5-4.
- Pinch-runner, Chris Ubner, scored on a fielder's choice and tied the game at 5-5.
