Marist Women's Rowing's Novice Eight Participates in Dad Vail Regatta

CHERRY HILL, NJ - Marist women's rowing traveled to Cooper River Park in Cherry Hill, NJ, to compete at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta. This is the largest collegiate regatta in the United States, with over 100 colleges and Universities from the U.S. and Canada. Marist participated in the Frosh/Novice 8+ event.

This crew was looking to finish their spring strong after several successful performances throughout the season. They placed 2nd at the Knecht Cup and NYS Championships, bested by Army in both races.

The Frosh/Novice 8+ consisted of coxswain Brooke Dini, Elizabeth Klik, Ashleigh Coyne, Carlie Pazderski, Ella Manion, Anna Iannucci, Grace Stoner, Elena Waldbillig, and Gabi White.

After performing well in Friday's time trial, this crew earned the second-fastest time behind St. Joe's and was placed in lane 4 in the Final on Saturday.

TIME TRIAL RACE VIDEO – BOW #338
The weather on Saturday brought a severe headwind, creating choppy conditions. Despite getting off to a shaky start and falling behind on Army and SJU during the first 500m, the crew could walk back up their time trial performance with their best race of the season!

FINAL RESULTS: SJU 7:05.880, MARIST 7:19.732, ARMY 7:30.610, RIT 7:57.356, TEMPLE 8:13.600

FINAL RACE VIDEO – LANE 4

"It was a really strong race, a great way to end the competitive season. It's been wonderful coxing these ladies and watching them improve as novices. Can't wait to see what they accomplish as Varsity!" - Coxswain Brooke Dini, Class of 2028

Coach's Quote
"We are excited about this new group of novices. With the exception of Brooke, a recruited frosh coxswain, they all came to Marist having no prior rowing experience, but they have put in an impressive year of hard work and progress to get up to speed with the rest of the team. After a season-long battle with the Army, it's incredibly rewarding to see this boat get a win over them at the end of the spring. Finishing second at the Dad Vail was a fantastic way to cap off their novice career!" - Kate Guinan, Assistant Coach

That concludes the season for this Novice 8+ crew! Congratulations on a successful spring!
