POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University football team opens the 2025 season, its 60
th as a program, on Friday night against New Haven at Tenney Stadium.

It is the first all-time meeting between the Red Foxes and Chargers. Fireworks will take place after the game.

- Marist opens the 2025 season with 104 players on its roster. The Red Foxes feature 61 returners and 43 newcomers.
- The returners include 13 starters (seven offensively, six defensively).
- Of the additions to the squad, there are 29 true freshmen and 14 transfers.

- Jason Myers, who played at Marist from 2009-12 and graduated in 2013, is in his seventh season as the Seattle Seahawks' placekicker and 11th in the NFL.
- Myers has earned two Pro Bowl selections in his career (2018, 2022).

- In the Red Foxes' 46 seasons in Division I, they are 16-30 in season openers.
- Marist's last season-opening win was a 35-10 victory at Bryant on Sept. 1, 2012.
- The Aug. 29 opener is tied for Marist's earliest in program history, which was previously set in 2008. It is Marist's fourth August game in program history.
- This is Marist's first Friday night home game since its season opener against Sacred Heart in 2010.
- This is Marist's first 12-game regular-season schedule in program history.
- This is the sixth time in the last 35 years Marist is starting with back-to-back home games. This also took place in 2022, 2016, 2010, 2002, and 1994.

- The Chargers are in their first season in Division I, and will play a 10-game independent schedule, starting with three straight road contests.
- Last season, New Haven won its second straight Northeast-10 championship and advanced to the Division II Championships. The Chargers went 8-3 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
- Interim head coach Mark Powell is in his first season leading the program and also serves as defensive coordinator.

- Marist plays the second of its back-to-back home games as the Red Foxes host Bucknell of the Patriot League on Saturday, Sept. 6.
