POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University men's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with Army West Point on Thursday night at Tenney Stadium.
The match opened with plenty of scoring chances on both sides. In the second half, Marist outshot Army 14-4, put seven shots on goal, and induced two Army red cards, but the Red Foxes were unable to score.
For the match, Marist held a 22-8 edge in shots, a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal, and led in corner kicks 4-3.
Kyle Evans led the Red Foxes with five shots. Evans and
Adriano Iannello tied for the team lead with three shots on goal.
Jamie Lowell registered four saves as he turned in his second straight clean sheet to start the season.
"Pleased with everything but our ability to get on the end of something to put the game to bed. Guys worked hard and did a lot of things that will bring us success this season. It's early and it's definitely something to build on. I have faith they'll get it sorted," - head coach Matt Viggiano.
- Marist remains undefeated at 1-0-1.
- Army now stands at 1-1-1.
