West Point, New York – The Marist men's and women's swimming and diving teams began their 2025–26 season on Thursday night at the Army Thursday Night Throwdown, competing against host Army, UConn, and Central Connecticut State at Crandall Pool. The Red Foxes turned in several strong early-season performances across both squads in the unique relay-heavy format.
On the women's side, Marist's top finish came in the
50-yard breaststroke, where
April Avila placed second overall in 29.47. She was followed closely by teammate
Rae Dodson, who earned fourth in 30.16. Avila and Dodson later combined with
Sabrina Conrad and
Milena Judge to lead the Red Foxes to a fourth-place showing in the
400-yard medley relay (4:04.92).
Freshman
Anna Hoskovec and sophomore
Emily Krucoff highlighted the distance events, teaming up for a sixth-place finish in the
2x400 freestyle relay (8:27.43). In sprint freestyle,
Rian Dickman led Marist with a ninth-place finish in the
50 free (24.62).
On the men's side,
Matthew McManus impressed with a third-place finish in the
50 backstroke (23.76) and followed that with another strong swim in the
50 free (21.47), where he finished third overall.
Caden Hardy led Marist in the breaststroke events, placing third in the
50 breast (26.10) and fifth in the
150 breast (1:31.38).
Marist showed depth in the butterfly races, with
Kris Flores (1:22.32) and
Ty Dropic (1:22.80) finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the
150 fly. Flores added a top-eight result in the
50 fly, clocking 23.68.
In the relay portion of the meet, Marist's men turned in a fourth-place finish in the
2x400 freestyle relay as
Lorenzo Aquilino and
Tyler Roer combined for a time of 7:36.57. The Red Foxes also earned three scoring positions in the
3x100 medley relay and placed third in the
5x100 freestyle relay (3:57.17).
The Red Foxes continue their fall slate on
Saturday, October 11th, when they host their home opener against Canisius at McCann Natatorium.
