Marist Baseball Falls In The Season Opener

The Red Foxes lose to ETSU 6-5 In The First Game Of The Series

JOHNSON CITY, TN – The Marist baseball team fall in their season opener 6-5 against East Tennessee State, Friday afternoon. Four different Red Foxes recorded at least one RBI, highlighted by a homerun from Noel Rivera.

 
SUMMARY
  • ESTU would open the scoring early, plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning.
  • The Red Foxes quickly responded, scoring one run in the top of the third to cut the lead in half
  • The next inning, top of the fourth, Marist would take the lead to go up 3-2.
  • In the top of the seventh, the Red Foxes extended their lead, now winning 4-2.
    • Lincoln hit a sacrifice fly that scored TJ Baer.
  • ETSU would fight back in the bottom of the eighth, scoring four runs to retake a 6-4 lead.
  • In the top of the ninth the Red Foxes would attempt a comeback with a homerun from Rivera, but would fall short, losing 6-5.
  • Will Taylor started the game and went 3.0 innings, letting up two hits and two runs while striking out five batters.
  • Andrew Fierro would come into the game in relief of Taylor pitching 4.1 innings, letting up six hits and four runs.
  • Caleb Kempler pitched 0.2 innings, letting up one hit and one run.

  • Rivera had three hits in the game with a pair of RBIs and a solo home run.
  • Ayden McNelly also had three hits in the game.
