The Marist Baseball Team Would Drop Both Games Of A Doubleheader

The Red Foxes Drop to 0-3 To Start The Season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 JOHNSON CITY, TN – The Marist baseball team finished their opening series against ESTU with a double header Saturday, Feb.14. The Red Foxes would drop both games of the double header and fall to 0-3 to start the season.
 
SCORING SUMMARY, GAME ONE
  • Marist would take an early lead in the top of the first inning with an RBI single from Nathan Lincoln.
  • ESTU would respond in the bottom of the first with an RBI double tying the game at one a piece.
  • In the top of the fourth, the Red Foxes would retake the lead with an RBI triple from Chris Diaz.
  • ETSU would respond once again in the bottom half of the fourth with a pair of runs retying the game at 3-3.
  • Connor Lawrence would hit an RBI single in the top of the fifth.
  • In the bottom of the fifth ESTU would tie the game and in the bottom of the sixth take a 6-4 lead.
  • In the top of the seventh Lawrence would hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to one run, 6-5.
  • In the bottom of the eighth ETSU would tack on and take a 7-5 lead and win the game.
 
STATS, GAME ONE
  • Lincoln had two hits and an RBI.
  • Lawrence would have two hits and two RBIs with one being a solo homerun.
  • Diaz recorded one hit and two RBIs in the game.
  • Tyler Hartley would go 3.2 innings letting up six hits and three runs while striking out three.
 
SCORING SUMMARY, GAME TWO
  • Marist would take an early lead in the top of the second inning with a sac fly from Luke Monico.
  • ESTU would quickly respond by scoring two runs in the bottom half of the second inning.
  • In the fourth inning ESTU would tack on two more runs to go up 4-1.
  • Travis Church grounded out to short in the top of the sixth and a run would come across to score.
  • In the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings ESTU would tack on and win the ballgame 7-2.
 
STATS, GAME TWO
  • Monico and Travis would both record an RBI in the game.
  • Jack Sullivan pitched 3.0 innings letting up four hits and two runs.
 
UP NEXT
  • The Red Foxes will stay in Tennessee but head to Nashville to face #23 Vanderbilt from Feb. 20-22.
