SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Marist University women's tennis team fell to Bryant, 6-1, on Saturday evening in Smithfield.
Sophomore Viktoria Lorentzon earned the Red Foxes' lone point of the match with a resilient three-set victory at No. 2 singles. After dropping the opening set 3-6, Lorentzon responded with a 7-6 second-set win and closed out the match in a 10-7 super tiebreak.
Bryant secured the doubles point despite a strong effort at the top of the lineup from freshman Tess Wachtel and Lorentzon, who earned a 7-6 (8-6) victory at No. 1 doubles. The Bulldogs captured wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take the early 1-0 lead. Junior Vihana Shresta and junior Caterina Assi competed at No. 2, while sophomore Ella Lindsey and freshman Yasmin Asnis paired at No. 3.
In singles play, Assi competed at No. 1, Shresta at No. 3, Asnis at No. 4, Lindsey at No. 5, and Wright at No. 6 for Marist.
