Dunne Sets MAAC’s All-Time Wins Record in Victory at Manhattan

Menard Scores Career-High 30 in 84-70 Triumph

RIVERDALE, New York – The Marist University men's basketball team earned an 84-70 triumph at Manhattan in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game on Friday night at Draddy Gymnasium.
 
The victory was the 266th in the career of head coach John Dunne, who became the MAAC's all-time leader in wins. Marist was fueled by the tandem of Justin Menard (30 points) and Rhyjon Blackwell (22).


 
Summary
  • Manhattan jumped out to an early 7-2 lead, but the Red Foxes fought back to tie the game at 10 four minutes in.
  • A three-point play by Parby Kabamba gave Marist its first lead, 24-23, at the 8:19 mark. This was the first of 11 lead changes that took place over the ensuing 6:09.
  • Rhyjon Blackwell scored the final eight points of the first half, and Marist took a 42-35 lead to the locker room.
  • A 6-0 Marist run, which included four points from Justin Menard, gave the Red Foxes a 12-point lead with 16:59 to play.
  • Myles Parker's dunk gave Marist a 62-46 lead, and forced a Manhattan timeout with 16:30 to go.
  • Martin Kawa's jumper with 9:22 to play put Marist up 70-49, which was the Red Foxes' largest lead of the contest.
  • Manhattan countered with a 9-0 run to get within 12. The Jaspers against got within 12 with two minutes to play, but were held scoreless for the remainder of the game.

  • Menard shot 10-for-14 from the field, 3-for-5 from three-point range, and 7-for-8 from the free throw line to get his 30 points. He also contributed three assists, two rebounds, and two steals with zero turnovers.
  • Blackwell shot 8-for-13 from the field and 2-for-3 from three. He also had a team-high five assists to go along with his 22 points.
  • Jadin Collins-Roberts gave Marist three double-digit scorers with 11.
  • Jaden Daughtry grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.
  • Marist shot .552 (32-for-58) from the field, .412 (7-for-17) from three-point range, and .813 (13-for-16) from the free throw line.
  • Terrance Jones led Manhattan with 29 points.
 
Notes
  • Menard's 30 points were a career high, and they were the most by a Red Fox since Josh Pascarelli had 31 against Canisius 52 weeks ago to the day – Feb. 21, 2025.
  • Blackwell topped 20 points for the fourth time this year.
  • Marist has now won its last seven against Manhattan.
  • Marist topped 50 percent from the field for the eighth time this season. The Red Foxes are 8-0 in these games.
  • Marist had 19 assists in the game, and the Red Foxes are now 13-1 when they have at least 15 assists.

  • Marist is 17-10 overall, and 11-7 in MAAC play.
  • Manhattan is now 12-17 this season, and 8-10 in the MAAC.
