VESTAL, N.Y. – Marist men's lacrosse jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, earning a 9-6 road victory over Binghamton on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Foxes controlled the tone from the opening whistle, scoring four unanswered goals in the first quarter. Sean Mullan opened the scoring and added two more in the frame, while Collin Patrick and Brady Dolan each found the back of the net to give Marist a 5-1 advantage after one.
Marist continued to build its lead in the second quarter. Dolan netted his second goal of the game off a feed from Patrick, and Mason Bader scored in the final seconds of the half to push the margin to 7-2 at the break.
The Red Foxes extended their lead to six early in the third quarter when Patrick converted on a man-up opportunity, assisted by Steven Cain. Although Binghamton responded with a pair of goals to cut into the deficit, Marist maintained control heading into the final period with an 8-4 lead.
Binghamton made things interesting in the fourth, scoring twice to trim the deficit to three, but Mullan completed his four-goal performance with a key insurance tally midway through the quarter. The Red Foxes' defense held firm down the stretch to secure the 9-6 win.
Mullan led all scorers with four goals on 17 shots, while Patrick recorded a four-point day with two goals and two assists to reach over 100 career points as a Red Fox. Dolan added two goals, and Bader chipped in one.
In goal, Richie Metzger made 15 saves over 58:40 of action to anchor the Marist defense. The Red Foxes outshot Binghamton 42-38 and went 18-for-20 on clears in a strong all-around performance.
Marist improves to 1-2 on the season with the win. The Red Foxes will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 28, when Marist plays host to Air Force inside Tenney Stadium for the 2026 home-opener on ESPN+.
