WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Marist women's tennis team fell to Army, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Yasmin Asnis earned the Red Foxes' lone point of the match with a straight-set victory at No. 6 singles, defeating Maria Miroshnichenko, 6-4, 6-4.
Army secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Junior Caterina Assi and junior Vihana Shresta dropped a 6-2 decision at No. 2, while Lola Ungerman and Asnis fell 6-2 at No. 3. The No. 1 doubles match featuring sophomore Viktoria Lorentzon and freshman Tess Wachtel was unfinished with Army leading 5-2.
In singles play, Assi competed at No. 1 and was trailing 6-4, 4-3 when the match went unfinished. Lorentzon fell 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2, and Cloe Clements dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 3. Shresta battled at No. 4 before falling 7-6, 6-2. At No. 5, Ungerman was in the middle of a third-set comeback, trailing 7-6, 1-4 when the match was halted.
