HOLLY SPRINGS, North Carolina – Marist baseball started a four-game series in Holly Springs against the Purdue Boilermakers, Friday evening. In a hard fought battle the Red Foxes would lose to Purdue by a score of 9-4.
 

SUMMARY

• The game remained scoreless through the first three innings before Purdue took a big 5-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth.
• The Red Foxes would respond in the top of the fifth by scoring two runs.
  • Connor Lawrence hit an RBI triple scoring two runs.
• In the top of the sixth Marist scored again to make it a 5-3 ball game.
  • Luke Monico cut the lead with an RBI single.
• The Boilermakers responded in the bottom of the sixth with a run of their own making the score 6-3.
• Purdue extended their lead in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run home run making it 9-3, Purdue.
• In the top of the ninth Kyle Pollack hit an RBI single but it wouldn't be enough and Marist would lose 9-4.

 

STATS

• Will Taylor started and pitched 3.2 innings, letting up five runs on four hits.
• Lawrence had two hits and led the team with two RBIs.
• Nathan Lincoln recorded three hits and scored a run.
• TJ Baer also tallied three hits and a run in the ball game.
• Monico had the Red Foxes third RBI while recording one hit.
• Pollack recorded two hits and an RBI.
