Marist Baseball Was Bested In A Doubleheader Saturday

The Red Foxes Lost Both Games Of A Doubleheader Against Purdue

HOLLY SPRINGS, North Carolina – Marist Baseball battled Purdue Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader. The Red Foxes would lose both games in the day/night doubleheader against the Purdue Boilermakers, dropping to 0-9.
 
GAME ONE SUMMARY
  • The Red Foxes took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
  • Purdue would storm back in the bottom of the fourth inning with four runs of their own.
  • In the top of the fourth Marist would respond with another run to tie the game 4-4.
    • Rivera once again went deep for his second home run of the game.
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Boilermakers once again retook the lead making the score 5-4, Purdue.
  • In the bottom of the seventh Purdue would extend their lead to 6-4.
  • The Red Foxes quickly responded in the top of the eighth with three runs to take the lead 7-6.
    • Michael Mayhugh started the scoring by hitting a sacrifice fly.
    • AJ Brotz would cross the plate on a wild pitch to score a run.
    • TJ Baer followed up with an RBI single scoring another run.
  • Marist piled on the runs in the top of the ninth, scoring another three runs.
  • The Boilermakers didn't go quietly, scoring five runs and winning the game 11-10.
 
GAME ONE STATS
  • Tyler Hartley made the start, going 3.1 innings letting up two hits and four runs.
  • Rivera led the Red Foxes, tallying two hits and three RBIs thanks to two home runs.
  • Haglund recorded one hit and two RBIs on a home run.
  • Baer would record two hits and an RBI of his own.
  • Lincoln and Millman both tallied two hits and an RBI in the ballgame.
  • Mayhugh would get in the RBI column with a sacrifice fly.
 
GAME TWO SUMMARY
  • The Red Foxes took a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
    • Kyle Pollack grounded out to first, but a run would come across to score.
  • Purdue would respond with two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead.
  • The Boilermakers went onto to score four unanswered runs in the next five innings.
  • Marist would cross the place again in the top of the seventh
    • Pollack scored on a throwing error by the second baseman.
  • Purdue would go onto score two more runs in the bottom of the eighth and would take the win by a score of 8-2.
 
GAME TWO STATS
  • Chris Ubner got the start and went 2.0 innings letting up four hits and three runs.
  • Connor Southwell came into the game, relieving Ubner, and pitched 4.0 innings letting up four hits and zero earned runs.
  • Pollack recorded the Red Foxes only RBI of the game while also tallying one hit.
  • Noel Rivera, Connor Lawrence, and Nathan Lincoln would all record one hit in the contest.
