PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Marist University women's tennis team fell to Brown, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon in Providence.
Brown secured the doubles point with wins on all three courts. Freshman Tessa Wachtel and sophomore Viktoria Lorentzon dropped a 6-3 decision at No. 1 doubles. Senior Cloe Clements and junior Caterina Assi fell 6-3 at No. 2, while freshman Yasmin Asnis and sophomore Lola Ungerman were defeated 6-2 at No. 3.
In singles play, Lorentzon competed at the top spot, falling 6-3, 6-4 to Hannah Shen. Assi battled in a three-set match at No. 2 before coming up short, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, against Ali Maguy. Clements dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 3, and junior Vihana Shresta fell 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4. Asnis was defeated 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5, while Wachtel rounded out the lineup with a 6-3, 6-2 loss at No. 6.
Marist will look to rebound Sunday, March 1Â when it travels to face Providence College at 4:15 p.m.
