COLUMBIA, South Carolina – The Marist University softball team was defeated by UAB, 9-0 in five innings, in the finale of the Garnet & Black Invitational on Sunday morning.
 
UAB scored five runs in the first, one in the third, and three in the fourth.
 
The Red Foxes had two hits, with singles from Haley Ahr and Samantha Rogers.
 
UAB had 11 hits. In the circle, Tait Davidson earned the win with four shutout innings, with Zaylen Tucker closing it out in the fifth.
 
Marist opens Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play next weekend with a three-game series at Fairfield. The Red Foxes and Stags will play a doubleheader on Saturday, March 7 followed by a single game on Sunday, March 8. First pitch is set for noon both days.
