ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – Sophomore guard
Justin Menard of the Marist University men's basketball team has been named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Championship Team.
Menard led the Red Foxes in scoring (17.5 points per game), assists (6.0 per game), and steals (3.5 per game) in their two games in the championship while also averaging 3.5 rebounds per game. He drained all 10 of his free throw attempts and also knocked down five threes in 12 tries (.417).
In Marist's 77-75 win over Quinnipiac in the quarterfinal round, Menard led the Red Foxes with 26 points. His three-pointer with 2:06 to play gave Marist the lead for good, and he added another 39 seconds later to give the Red Foxes a six-point lead. He also contributed six assists, four steals, and three rebounds while tying his career high with five three-pointers.
In Marist's 58-57 semifinal loss to Merrimack, Menard finished with nine points, a game-high six assists, four rebounds, and a team high of three steals.
Menard was a Third Team All-MAAC selection who led the Red Foxes in scoring (12.9 points per game), assists (3.8 per game), steals (1.3 per game), total three-pointers made (57), and free throw percentage (.926).
