BALTIMORE, Md. – The Marist University women's tennis team earned a 4-0 victory over Loyola Maryland on Friday afternoon.
The Red Foxes secured the doubles point with wins on two courts. Sophomore Viktoria Lorentzon and freshman Tessa Wachtel opened the day with a dominant 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles. Senior Cloe Clements Sorde and sophomore Lola Ungerman followed with a 6-4 win at No. 3 to clinch the point for Marist.
Marist carried that momentum into singles play, winning three straight matches to secure the team victory. Junior Caterina Assi posted a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. Lorentzon added a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 2, and Ungerman clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3.
The match at No. 4 featuring Clements Sorde was halted with Clements Sorde leading 7-6 (3), 2-0. Matches at No. 5 and No. 6 did not start once the fourth point was secured.
