ORLANDO, Florida – The Marist women's tennis team fell to Morgan State, 4-3, on Thursday afternoon.
Morgan State claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Sophomore Viktoria Lorentzon and freshman Tessa Wachtel earned a 7-6 (5) victory at No. 1 doubles, but the Red Foxes dropped the other two courts to fall behind 1-0.
Marist responded in singles play with three victories. Junior Caterina Assi battled to a 7-5, 1-6, 10-2 win at No. 1 singles. Senior Cloe Clements Sorde delivered a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3, and sophomore Ella Lindsey added a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6.
Lorentzon dropped a tightly contested three-set match at No. 2, falling 3-6, 6-1, 11-9. Junior Vihana Shresta was edged at No. 4, 7-6 (5), 6-3, while freshman Yasmin Asnis fell 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5.
- The Red Foxes return to action against Niagara on Saturday, March 28 for a 5 p.m. match at Sportsplex New Windsor.
