CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina – The Marist University softball team fell in both of its games on Saturday to close out the Mizuno Showdown.

In their first game of the day, the Red Foxes were defeated by Arizona State by a score of 12-3 in five innings. In game two, Marist was defeated by North Carolina, 12-2 in five innings.

Marist hit three home runs on the day, with
Maia Salvo going deep twice against Arizona State, and
Livia Wiltsie hitting one against North Carolina.
Haley Ahr and
Samantha Rogers finished the day with three hits.

Marist is now 15-17 on the season.

- Brooklyn Ulrich had an RBI single and Kaylee Pond hit a two-run homer to give Arizona State a 3-0 lead in the top of the second.
- The Sun Devils scored twice in the top of the third, but the Red Foxes answered with two of their own. Maia Salvo led off the inning with a home run. Peyton Pusey then doubled with one out, and scored on a bases-loaded walk by Sienna Kunze.
- Arizona State increased its lead to 7-2 in the fourth, but Salvo hit her second homer in as many innings in the bottom half.
- Arizona State then scored five in the fifth, which included a three-run homer from Katie Chester.
- Marist had eight hits, led by Salvo and Pusey with two apiece.

- Haley Ahr started a two-out rally in the top of the first with a single, advanced to second on a passed ball, and scored on a single by Samantha Rogers.
- Shelby Barbee's sacrifice fly tied the game in the bottom of the first, but Marist took it back on Livia Wiltsie's leadoff homer in the second.
- North Carolina scored seven in the bottom of the second, with a three-run homer by  Barbee and a solo homer by MC Eaton.
- Rayna Blackwell's two-run homer gave the Tar Heels a 10-2 lead in the third.
- North Carolina added its final two runs on an error in the fourth.
- Ahr and Rogers each finished with two hits.

- Marist returns to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play with a three-game series at Iona.
- The Red Foxes and Gaels are scheduled for a doubleheader on Friday, April 3 and a single game on Saturday, April 4.
- First pitch both days is set for noon.
