POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The No. 9 Marist University women's basketball team aims to secure a spot in the MAAC Quarterfinals, as the Red Foxes face No. 8 Manhattan on Thursday, March 5. Tip-off is set for noon on ESPN+ inside Boardwalk Hall.
 

HOW WE GOT HERE

• Marist went 11-19 on the season and 8-12 in MAAC play to secure the #9 seed in the MAAC Championships.
• With the ninth seed, the Red Foxes will take on the eighth-seeded Manhattan Jaspers. The winner will play top-seeded Quinnipiac in the MAAC Quarterfinals.
• A win over Manhattan would give Marist its first postseason victory since the 2020-21 season.

ALL-MAAC RED FOXES

• Redshirt senior captain guard Lexie Tarul and freshman forward Justine Henry were honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Wednesday.
• Tarul averaged 12.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.5 steals per game, and 2.1 3-pointers per game on the season en route to earning Third Team All-MAAC honors.
• Henry made an immediate impact, averaging 12.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 1.5 steals per game en route to earning unanimous MAAC All-Rookie honors.

SCOUTING THE JASPERS

• Manhattan, 10-19 on the season, is led by Heather Vulin in her 10th year as head coach.
• The Jaspers earned the #8 seed with a 10-10 record in MAAC play.
• Brianna Davis leads the Jaspers on offense, averaging 15.4 points per game. She was named to the All-MAAC Second Team.

HISTORY VS. MANHATTAN

• Thursday's contest against Manhattan will mark Marist's 70th against the Jaspers.
• The Red Foxes lead the all-time series 43-26.
• Marist beat Manhattan 62-57 on Jan. 3 and then lost in overtime, 66-61, on Feb. 19.
• The last time these two teams met in the MAAC Championships was 2019, when the third-seed Red Foxes defeated the sixth-seeded Jaspers, 65-51, in the MAAC Quarterfinals.

NEXT TIME OUT

• With a win, the Red Foxes will take on top-seeded Quinnipiac on Friday, March 6 in the MAAC Quarterfinals.
• Tip-off from Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City is set for 12 p.m. on ESPN+.
