ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – The Marist University women's basketball team had its season come to an end in the opening round of the Air Force Reserve Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship on Thursday afternoon.
The ninth-seeded Red Foxes fell to eighth-seeded Manhattan, 64-55.
- Manhattan scored the game's first nine points, as Marist was held scoreless for the first four minutes.
- Manhattan was up by as much as 13 in the first quarter, and the Jaspers led 21-10 after 10 minutes.
- A personal 7-0 run by Brianna Davis extended Marist's lead to 20 with 7:44 left until the half, which led to a Marist timeout.
- The Red Foxes countered with an 8-0 run, which included five straight points from Justine Henry.
- Marist got within 10 on two occasions, and trailed 43-32 after 20 minutes.
- Marist got within 10 twice, but Manhattan used a 7-0 run to expand its lead to 17.
- The Red Foxes scored the final four points of the quarter, and Karly Fischer's layup cut Marist's deficit to 56-43 after 30 minutes.
- Marist went on a 10-0 run as Manhattan was held scoreless for 8:19. The Red Foxes got within five on Julia Corsentino's layup with 1:46 to go.
- Manhattan held Marist scoreless the rest of the way, as the Jaspers scored the game's final four points.
- Henry led Marist 15 points, and she tied Lexie Tarul for the team lead with seven rebounds.
