POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist University women's tennis team earned a 7-0 sweep over Rider on Senior Day to close out the regular season at the Marist Tennis Pavilion.
Marist opened the match with a strong showing in doubles, winning all three courts to secure the point. Sophomore Viktoria Lorentzon and freshman Tessa Wachtel earned a 7-5 victory at No. 1, while junior Caterina Assi and junior Vihana Shresta followed with a 6-0 win at No. 2. Senior Cloe Clements Sorde and sophomore Lola Ungerman completed the sweep with a 6-3 victory at No. 3.
The Red Foxes carried that momentum into singles, sweeping all six matches in straight sets or a deciding tiebreak. Assi led the way with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1, while Lorentzon followed with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 2.
Clements Sorde earned a 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 3, and Ungerman added a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 4. Shresta battled to a three-set win at No. 5, 3-6, 6-2, 13-11, and sophomore Ella Lindsey closed out the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6.
