Box Score NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. – The Marist University women's tennis team earned a 7-0 sweep over Merrimack at Sportsplex New Windsor on Saturday evening.
Marist opened the match by securing the doubles point with wins on two courts. Senior Cloe Clements Sorde and sophomore Lola Ungerman rolled to a 6-0 victory at No. 2, while junior Caterina Assi and freshman Roua Limem followed with a 6-0 win at No. 3. Sophomore Viktoria Lorentzon and freshman Tessa Wachtel led 4-3 at No. 1 before the match went unfinished.
The Red Foxes carried that momentum into singles, sweeping all six matches. Lorentzon earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1, while Clements Sorde followed with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2.
Ungerman added a 6-2, ret. win at No. 3, and junior Vihana Shresta delivered a 6-0, 6-0 result at No. 4. Wachtel secured a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 5, and junior Jane Wright closed out the sweep with a 1-6, 6-0, 4-0, ret. win at No. 6.
