POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Redshirt sophomore catcher
Scott Esposito of the Marist University baseball team has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Male Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Bob McCloskey Insurance.
Esposito has been a leader on and off the field for the Red Foxes. He has started all 66 games in which he has appeared since arriving at Marist. As a redshirt freshman, he earned CSC Academic All-District and MAAC All-Academic Team honors for his success in the classroom.
This season, Esposito has been a staple behind the plate, starting 30 of Marist's 49 games while posting a .980 fielding percentage. Offensively, he is hitting .327 with 13 RBIs for the Red Foxes.
In the classroom, Esposito, a finance major, has earned Dean's List honors in all five semesters at Marist.
Esposito is the sixth Marist student-athlete to be named MAAC Student-Athlete of the Week this season, joining Dane Dillenback (swimming), Jackie Piddock (women's basketball), Jadin Collins-Roberts (men's basketball), Mia Fernandes (women's lacrosse), and Sarah Bumstead (volleyball).
