Marist Baseball Takes on Niagara in Day Three of the MAAC Championships

The Red Foxes Look to Stay Alive in a Winner Take All Game

WAPPINGERS FALLS, New York – Marist Baseball continues to day three of the MAAC Championships. They will battle Niagara University at 3:00 p.m. in a win-or-go-home game. Through the first two days of the tournament, the Red Foxes are 2-1 defeating Canisius and Merrimack along the way.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes took on Merrimack on Thursday evening, looking to stay alive and advance to the next round.
  • In an offensive battle, Marist came out on top to win 13-8.
    • Chris Diaz continues to lead the offense with one hit and three RBIs, highlighted by a two-run homerun.
    • Nine different Red Foxes managed to get a hit in the ballgame.
    • Jack Sullivan pitched 3.0 innings of relief with only one hit allowed, zero earned runs, and four strikeouts.
SCOUTING NIAGARA
  • The Purple Eagles enter the tournament at the #2 seed after finishing the regular season with a 20-10 conference record.
  • Niagara faced Fairfield in their opening game of the MAAC Championships.
    • In a close game, they fell to Fairfield 4-3 on Thursday afternoon.
  • Player to watch: Rees Kozar
    • Kozar has been a leader on the offense, slashing a .327 average and a .863 OPS in the regular season.
    • He led the team with 40 RBIs, six homeruns, 11 doubles, and 65 hits.

  • The winner will advance and play for a spot in the championship game against the loser of Fairfield vs Rider.
  • First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET, Friday.
