Women's Tennis Opens Fall Slate at Lehigh Invite

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist University women's tennis team opens its fall slate at the Lehigh Invite. The two-day event will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

  • The Red Foxes finished last season with an 11-7 overall record, while going 5-3 in conference play.
  • Caterina Assi was named to the All-MAAC Singles First Team, while Lola Ungerman earned Second Team honors. Yasmin Asnis was selected to the Third Team.
  • In doubles play, Ungerman, along with sophomore Viktoria Lorentzon and freshman Tessa Wachtel, were named to the All-MAAC Doubles Second Team.
A New Leader
  • Marist Athletics announced the hiring of Andrew Sendek as the new Director of Tennis in early September.
  • Sendek joins Marist after serving as the head men's and women's tennis coach at the University of Mount Olive during the 2025-26 season. In his first season at Mount Olive, Sendek led the men's program to an 11-0 record in Conference Carolina play, marking the program's first undefeated conference season since 2015. The Trojans finished as the Conference Carolina tournament runner-up, while Sendek was named the conference's Men's Coach of the Year.
  • Under Sendek's guidance, Mount Olive also produced the 2026 Conference Carolina Men's Freshman of the Year and six All-Conference selections. The men's team earned four selections, including two first-team, one second-team and one third-team honoree, while the women's team had two second-team selections.
