POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist Senior Associate AD/Student-Athlete Welfare & Senior Woman Administrator Elizabeth Donohue has announced the hiring of Mohamed Diawara as Assistant AD/Compliance.
 
This is Diawara's second stint in the Marist Athletics Department. He previously served as an Athletics Department Fellow at Marist from 2023-25, working in the business office where he focused on fan engagement and operations, oversaw overseeing daily ticket office operations, managed community outreach initiatives, and administered pool memberships. Additionally, he contributed to the operations of the McCann Pro Shop and the overall business office.
 
From 2025-26, Diawara served as the inaugural Howard Vandersea Fellow in Athletics Administration at Bowdoin College. He was a member of the administrative leadership team who supported department-wide initiatives across strategic planning, student-athlete development, event and game operations, community engagement, and athletic administration.

While working in the department, Diawara played football at Marist for two seasons. He served as a team captain in 2024, when he led the Red Foxes with four receiving touchdowns and tied for the team best with five total touchdowns. In 18 games with the Red Foxes, Diawara caught 44 passes for 555 yards and scored six total touchdowns. Diawara was one of three student-athletes who was part of the department's inaugural Strategic Planning Committee. He earned a master's degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Ethical Leadership.
 
Diawara originally came to Marist as a graduate student after a successful playing and academic career at Bates College. He totaled 113 receptions, 1,542 yards and 11 touchdowns. In 2022, Diawara led the team with seven touchdown receptions. At Bates, Diawara majored in Psychology with concentrations in Law and Society, Racism, and Religious Studies. He held leadership positions with the Bates Athletes of Color Coalition and served as a peer mentor for the Bobcat First Generation Student Program. His senior thesis, Psychological and Emotional Response to Injury in Athletes, reflected his academic focus and passion for student-athlete well-being.
 
Diawara has participated in the NCAA Student Immersion Program, the NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar, the NCAA Career in Sports Forum, and the NCAA Institute for Administrative Advancement.
 
Diawara is a candidate for the University of Florida's Master of Science in Sport Management program, with a concentration in Sport Law.
 
A Philadelphia native, Diawara graduated from Boys' Latin High School as the School record holder for career receiving yards. He was a two-time First Team All-Public League honoree, a Philadelphia City All-Star, and All-Public League honors in baseball and lacrosse.
