Men's Soccer Travels to Sacred Heart Wednesday Night

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist University men's soccer team continues Metro Conference play against Sacred Heart on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Kickoff from Park Ave Field is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
 
Last Time Out
  • The Red Foxes fell to Mount St. Mary's, 4-3, in their Metro opener on Sept. 19 at Tenney Stadium.
  • Junior Caio Cavaletti opened the scoring in the 26th minute after a give-and-go with junior captain Chris Verheul. Cavaletti finished the play to give the Red Foxes a 1-0 lead. 
  • Mount St. Mary's found the equalizer in the 41st minute when Lincoln Bauer found the back of the net, sending the teams into halftime tied at 1-1. The Mountaineers regained the lead in the 66th minute when Daniel Morales Silva scored off an assist from Lincoln Bauer. 
  • Marist answered in the 72nd minute. Sophomore Ronan Hogg drilled a shot from 25 yards out that was initially saved by the Mountaineers' goalkeeper, but Mani Diop buried the rebound to tie the match at 2-2.
  • The Red Foxes took the lead again just over three minutes later when Cavaletti set up Verheul, who finished to make it 3-2. 
  • Mount St. Mary's responded with two goals in a span of less than five minutes. Morales Silva scored his second of the night in the 78th minute before Abou Cherif scored the eventual game-winner in the 83rd minute.

  • The Pioneers are 2-3-3 on the season, most recently tying Saint Peter's in their Metro opener.
