A dual-sport athlete in high school, Samantha Bailey has earned accolades in basketball as well as soccer. In basketball, she has been named First Team All-League and Western New York Honorable Mention, and earned the Western New York Scholar-Athlete Award. In her junior season, she averaged 10.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, which helped her become New York State's #2 prospect, according to Northeast Girls Recruiting. In soccer, she was named Second Team All-League this fall and her team has captured the Section 6 championship twice. She has been named Grand Island High School Athlete of the Year three times.
Coach Giorgis on Bailey: "Sam, at that position, brings us a different type of athleticism. She's very versatile and another consummate team player. On her high school team, when she needs to score, she's been able to do that very well. On her AAU team, she was very much a role player, and really got the ball to the guards and did everything she was asked to do. She's extremely coachable, and I think she has tremendous upside."
