2005-06: Third Team All-MAAC selection…Finishing his junior season with 989 career points, Whittington is just 11 points away from becoming Marist’s 23rd 1,000-point scorer all-time…Led the Red foxes in scoring on 12 separate occasions during the 2005-06 season…Scored a personal and team season-high 30 points in the Red Foxes’ 85-77 win at Siena on Jan 13… Sank a school-record eight three-point shots during the season- on the road against Siena on Jan. 13 and at home against Fairfield on Jan. 20th… Was the MAAC Player of the Week in Week Five… Finished the season ranked seconds all-time in Marist school history for 3-point field goal percentage (43.4 percent(, three-point field goal attempts (518) and 3-point field goals made (225 made)… Also ranks among the all-time leaders at Marist in free throw percentage (8th-78.9 percent).
2004-05: Named third-team All-MAAC…Second in the nation in scoring improvement over last season with a jump of 12.56 points, according to Stats, Inc… Became just the fourth player in NCAA history to finish in the top five in 3-point percentage and 3-pointers per game…Ranked second in the nation in 3-point percentage (50.3) and fifth in 3-pointers per game (3.6) according to the rankings released by the NCAA on Feb. 22… Lead the MAAC (all games) in 3-point percentage (.500), second in 3-poiners per game (3.6), seventh in free throw percentage (.806) and eighth in scoring (16.6)…Leader in MAAC games in 3-point percentage (.463) and 3-pointers made (3.1)…Named MAAC co-Player of the Week once…Lead the Red Foxes with 16.6 points per game…Scored in double figures in 23 of 27 games, including a career-high 31 at St. John’s on Dec. 19th.
2003-04: Led the Red Foxes with 13 points in the home loss to St. Peter’s on Jan 24th… Had his best rebounding game of the season in the MAAC tourney, snaring five boards in the loss to Siena… Posted three assists three times during the season, against Eastern Michigan at Fairfield and mat Manhattan… Saw action in 23 games during 2003-05, averaging 4.0 points and 1.2 rebounds per game…Led Marist with a .373 percentage from three-point range (25-for-27).
Prior to Marist: Played high school basketball at Kingwood High School in Texas…Earned three varsity basketball letters at Kingwood, helping them to the postseason each season… Advanced to the regional semifinals at a senior… A two-time District 22- 5A Most Valuable Player… Earned team MVP honors twice during his career.
