Biography
2017: All-ECAC Second Team, All-MAAC First Team... Played in all 16 games for the Red Foxes starting in 14 of them... Tied a career high with six ground balls while also registering a shot at Canisius on March 18... Collected three ground balls and caused two turnovers at Hartford on March 21... Recorded an assist, two ground balls, and a caused turnover on April 15 at Manhattan... Led the team with 14 caused turnovers and was third on the team with 39 ground balls.
2016: Started all 16 games and led Marist with 41 ground balls... Picked up a career-high six ground balls in the season opener vs. Air Force on Feb. 20... Scored his first career goal at High Point on March 5... Picked up five ground balls and an assist in the MAAC Tournament semifinal against Monmouth on May 5... Registered three ground balls and a career-high two caused turnovers in the MAAC Championship game at Quinnipiac on May 7.Â
2015:Â Played in 17 games... Fired a shot and tied a season high with two ground balls vs. Bryant in the NCAA First Four game on May 6... Caused a turnover in five different games, including both NCAA Tournament games (vs. Bryant on May 6 and at Syracuse on May 10).
2014: MAAC All-Rookie Team... Appeared in 14 games for the Red Foxes... Attempted three shots, all on goal... Collected 11 ground balls, including a season-high three against Siena on March 15... Recorded five caused turnovers with a season-high two against Siena.Â
Prior to Marist: Murphy comes to Marist following a stellar career at Hatboro-Horsham High School, the alma mater of former Red Fox Edward Coombs. As a junior, Murphy was his team's leading scorer with 45 goals and 11 assists for a total of 56 points and was named Offensive MVP. The midfielder finished his junior year by leading his team to the Suburban One Continental Championship. He was selected to the 2012 All-Intelligence First Team and the 2012 Suburban One Continental Conference First Team. This past summer, Murphy was named an Under Armour Underclassmate All-American and played for Team Philadelphia, which was crowned the 2012 Under Armour Champions.
